Import duties the Customs Union on new cars will be reduced from 1 September from 20% to 17%. The duty on the importation of used cars aged 5-7 years will be 22%. As reported by “Kommersant”, citing a published decision of the Council of the Eurasian economic Commission. According to representatives of the Commission, the average duty was reduced by three percentage points.
The ECE shall act in the framework of the commitments which were undertaken by Russia before the WTO. It is noted that the new fees will apply in the Eurasian economic Union, including Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
In 2017, the duties were reduced: for example, for new passenger cars declined from 23% to current 20%. The newspaper says that the decrease will continue in the future . For example, fees should be reduced in 2019 to 15%.
